Product Description

During his relatively brief career as an architect and designer, Charles Rennie Mackintosh (Scottish, 1868–1928) produced a wide range of works, from the visionary building he designed for the Glasgow School of Art, to the sophisticated tea rooms he created for tea entrepreneur Catherine Cranston, to the textiles, furniture, light fixtures, tableware, and wall decor that graced his distinctive interiors. Sadly, during his lifetime, many of his designs met with ridicule or rejection. Today the Mackintosh style—characterized by a restrained yet compelling use of decoration, airy and bright rooms, an emphasis on vertical lines, and a fusion of geometric and organic motifs—is appreciated for its simplicity and elegance. This selection of embossed notecards features four designs adapted from Mackintosh’s signature high-backed chairs and stencils.
