In the time of the Kangxi emperor (1662-1722), to hear the name Yun in association with a flower painting was to know, sight unseen, that the painting was of the highest caliber. A descendant of the celebrated Qing dynasty court artist Yun Shouping, Yun Bing achieved fame in her own right, especially for her finely detailed and brilliantly colored paintings of flowering plants, rendered in a style influenced by Yun Shouping's work and by the tastes of the time. Yun Bing's album Flowers of the Twelve Months, which is reproduced in full in this elegant birthday book, is in the collection of the Asian Art Museum of San Francisco, one of the largest museums in the Western world devoted exclusively to Asian art.
Also known as a Book of Days, Pomegranate's little hardcover birthday books have plenty of space to record events for each day of the year. Meant to be used year after year, your entries are reminders of recurring events (like anniversaries and birthdays) and annual reminders of important milestones in your life.
