In 2000, at the request of the Chicago chapter of the American Institute of Architects, Greg Otto (American, b. 1943) began a four-year project—painting and drawing Chicago architecture for the 2004 AIA national convention. He completed thirty-seven pieces, all of which are now in private collections. Since 2004 the Chicago Architecture Foundation has handled printed reproductions of some of this work.
The recipient of a grant from the National Endowment for the Arts, Otto first exhibited in 1969 at the Betty Parsons Gallery in New York City. For more than thirty years, he has focused on the urban landscape and has exhibited in Chicago, Washington, DC, and Baltimore, Maryland, where he lives and works.
